BB sniper sought

Police are on the hunt for a BB gun sniper who has made life a living hell for residents of Seabreeze Plaza.

Residents told reporters last week that for the past month they have been targeted by the BB sniper, who has shattered window and patio doors and has devastated the facade of the new luxury condo at 3111 Ocean Parkway.

The BB sniper has been targeting the building since August 2, said residents, who had a special meeting with police on Friday, according to the New York Post.

So far, no injuries have been reported although several thousand dollars in damage has been sustained.

Anyone with information regarding the sniper’s whereabouts is urged to contact the 60th Precinct at (718) 946-3311. All calls will be kept confidential.

Blades on Bragg Street

An argument on Bragg Street near Avenue X turned bloody when one man stabbed the other in the chest, police alleged.

Officials said that the skirmish broke out at 3 p.m. on September 7, as residents from throughout the borough were celebrating Labor Day.

The victim sustained a wound, but the cut was not serious, officials said.

The man who allegedly wielded the blade, identified as Gerado Rivera, was taken into custody and charged with assault in the first degree, menacing, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon. The knife used in the attack was found in his pocket, police alleged.

It was unclear what sparked the attack as this paper went to press.

Weapon standoff

An argument between neighbors on Brighton 5th Street ended up in a standoff with one man threatening the other with a bat while the opponent waved a screwdriver, police alleged.

When cops arrived at the building, located near Oceanview Avenue, at about 1 p.m. on September 6, they found 53-year-old Robert Barry and 18-year-old Hugh Mansilla nearly at each other’s throats, police alleged.

Neither was armed at the time of the arrest, although both Barry and Mansilla were both charged with criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and harassment.

Mansilla was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance when a pipe containing crack residue was allegedly found in his pocket.

Two nabbed for robbery

Cops from the 60th Precinct arrested two men in connection with a robbery on Brighton 10th Court and Coney Island Avenue.

Police alleged that 30-year-old George Villon and 20-year-old Antonio Hernandez jumped the victim at 2:30 a.m. on September 5 and put him in a headlock.

They then ran off with the victim’s MP3 player, keys and headphones, police alleged. They were caught by responding officers a both time later.

Both men were charged with robbery in the second degree, grand larceny and resisting arrest when they allegedly tried to fight off the cops apprehending them, prosecutors said.

Taxi take-off

A fare-beater being taken to Sheepshead Bay tried to not only get a free ride, but get paid for it too, officials alleged.

Police said that 18-year-old Joshua Rodriguez was charged with robbery in the third degree, grand larceny and theft of services during his alleged failed escape attempt from a taxi cab bringing him to Shore Parkway and Knapp Street.

The cabbie told police that he had brought Rodriguez to the corner at 9:30 p.m. on September 6 when the young man allegedly reached into the victim’s pocket and pulled out a wad of cash.

Rodriguez then ran off without paying for his ride, officials alleged.

Responding officers caught up with Rodriguez a short time later.

More questions for Sea Gate couple

After turning up nothing incriminating in, on and under a Sea Gate home owned by a pair of alleged grifters, investigators haven’t ruled out Dmitriy and Julia Yakovlev in the disappearance of Irina Malezhik.

In fact, the FBI is trying to link them to another disappearance %u2013 the man who owned the Manhattan Avenue property before they did.

The Yakovlevs are also being considered people of interest in the disappearance of a New Jersey man they had dealings with before he vanished, the New York Post reported last week.

FBI investigators converged on the sleepy gated community of Sea Gate back on August 17 to see if Malezhik, who has been missing since 2007, had been buried on her property.

Malezhik was last seen leaving her apartment building in Brighton Beach.

A short time after her disappearance, the Yakovlevs allegedly cashed over $6,500 in checks from the missing woman’s account, officials said.

The couple was ultimately arrested last month, charged with stealing the woman’s identity.

But while the Yakovlevs attorney said that the FBI search turned up nothing, law enforcement sources said that investigators are trying to determine if the couple had anything to do with the strange disappearance of Michael Klein, a retired NYPD mechanic who hasn’t been seen or heard from since he had sold his home to the couple three years ago.

The couple is also linked to another missing person’s case in the Garden State.

Officials said that a New Jersey man, who they declined to name, reportedly had ties to the Yakovlevs.

Officials said that Dmitriy Yakovlev was still in jail on grand larceny charges. His wife had made bail, officials said.

Robbed on New Utrecht

A 26-year-old man was thrown to the ground and pummeled during a robbery on New Utrecht and Bay Ridge Avenues.

The victim told police that he was walking home from work at 3 a.m. on August 22 when the three unidentified suspects approached on bicycles.

The thieves knocked the victim off his feet, punched his face and legs and ran off with the $350 in his back pocket, officials said.

Cops were still looking for the three thugs as this paper went to press.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to come forward.

Calls can be made to the 62nd Precinct at (718) 236-2611. All calls will be kept confidential.

Drug den double cross

A Tuesday night trip to pick up some marijuana at a Cropsey Avenue apartment building went horribly wrong for two young pot heads when their supplier double-crossed them.

The young men admitted to area cops that they were going to the apartment building near Bay 26th Street at 10:30 p.m. on August 18 to buy some marijuana from a dealer named “Must.”

But when they arrived at the apartment, they were confronted by three men armed with a gun.

The suspects ordered the two victims to strip and sprawl out on the floor.

The thieves ran off with the victim’s clothes as well as the $360 they had brought to purchase their party favors.

The victims said that they were on the floor for about 20 minutes before they built up enough courage to look around.

After a search of the building, they found their clothes ditched by the elevator. The money was gone.

They then ran to a gas station at the corner of Bay 28th Street and Cropsey Avenue to call 911, officials said.
