Beautiful new Brooklyn mural

Downtown proprietor Barry Jacobson is no slumlord.

The spirited owner of a pair of adjoining commercial buildings at 186 Joralemon Street was so mindful of his tenants’ right to view beauty that he commissioned Connecticut artist Patrick Ganino to paint a 12-story high mural in the courtyard of the towers, complete with such iconic New York images as a three-story tall Statue of Liberty.

Chances are you won’t get to admire the impressive artwork, though, unless you’re a resident, but that hasn’t fazed Ganino from gracing the five-sided atrium with his own handiwork %u2013 all within a self-imposed deadline of 50 days.

Jacobson told the press that he wanted to give his tenants, who include Rep. Ed Towns and Little Flower Children’s Services, a more “interesting, informative and creative” view.
