Bensonhurst man arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting 11-year-old girl on street

The police arrested a 65-year-old man who allegedly grabbed the buttocks of an 11-year-old girl on 66th Street in Mapleton on May 23.

The alleged assault occurred between 17th and 18th avenues at about 3:40 pm, and the Bensonhurst resident allegedly fled on 66th Street towards 17th Avenue afterwards, police said, adding that the girl was uninjured.

Police released photos believed to show the suspect on May 29 asking the public for help identifying him, and were able to make the arrest by 11 pm the following day.

The suspect is charged with sex abuse, forcible touching, acting in a manner injurious to a child younger than 17, and harassment.
