For those still craving a Founding Fathers fix after the HBO miniseries John Adams, a forthcoming play by the Bath Beach-based Ryan Repertory explores the complex psyche of another American pillar.
Tickets are now on sale for Ben: A Very Pesonal Account of Benjamin Franklin, a monodrama starring stage veteran Kevin Hauver.
The two-hour-long play will run for 12 performances spanning May 10 through the 18 at the Harry Warren Theater (2445 Bath Avenue).
As the title suggests, the play delves into Franklin’s personal life, addressing his now notorious libido, his complex relationship with his illegitimate son, Billy, and the interplay between his personal life and his obligations to history.
The play also highlights Franklin’s embrace of new ideas and technology, celebrating the man who was perhaps the original embodiment of the term “American Ingenuity.”
