Council Members David Yassky (center) and John Liu (front) joined with Transporta-tion Alternatives Executive Director Paul Steely White (left) to promote the recent “National Bike to Work Day.” In a show of support for New Yorkers who ride their bikes to work, the three men rode into the event on bicycles. Said Yassky: “Biking to work can save people time and money, and it’s great news for the environment. There are New Yorkers all over this City who would bike to work if we could make it just a little bit easier. That means making the roads safe for cyclists and making sure they have a place to put their bikes once they get to the office.” “We are riding for the health of our fellow New Yorkers, and our own,” added Queens Council Member and Transportation Committee Chair Liu. Yassky has introduced Intro 38, the “Bikes in Buildings Bill,” which would require office buildings to accommodate employees who wish to bring their bikes inside after riding to work.
