Gunning for trouble
A 17-year-old was arrested in East Flatbush on Aug. 21 after he shot one man in the back and then attempted to gun down a second victim.
Officials said the teen was on Rutland Road and E. 93rd Street just after midnight when he got into an altercation with his victim.
The thug pulled a gun and opened fire, hitting his victim, who had just turned away from him, in the shoulder. The thug then took aim at a second individual and pulled the trigger, but the gun wouldn’t work.
Cops called to the scene arrested the gunman after finding him on E. 98th Street between Rutland Road and Winthrop Street. He reportedly threw his gun to the ground and ran off when he saw police drawing near, prosecutors said.
Stabbed during robbery
A thief plunged a knife into a man’s forearm on Aug. 16 during a bloody mugging on Woodruff Avenue.
Police said that the 54-year-old suspect approached his victim between Ocean and Flatbush avenues just after 4 am and pulled his blade.
He then ordered his victim to hand over his money, stabbing him in the forearm during the ensuing struggle.
The victim took himself to Kings County Hospital for treatment.
Cops found his mugger a short time later. He reportedly still had the knife on him, which was covered in dry blood, according to officials.
Train thief search
Cops are looking for the man who yanked a chain off a straphanger’s neck during a daring robbery on Aug. 5.
Police said the 37-year-old victim was exiting the Newkirk Avenue subway station just before 9:30 pm when the suspect attacked, choking her from behind.
The thief then grabbed the necklace and ran off with it.
Cops were asking anyone with information about the thief, described as a 6-foot one-inch black male in his late 30s or early 40s, to call CrimeStoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
Burglary break
Cops have arrested a second member of a burglary crew who were caught looting a Lenox Road home on Aug. 16.
The victim, who lives between E. 46th Street and Schnectady Avenue, said she left her home at 8 am, but when she returned two and a half hours later, she found three thieves inside removing her Wii and PlayStation game consoles.
The thieves ran off when she screamed, but cops managed to grab one of the thieves, an 18-year-old, after a short search of the area.
The second thief, also 18, was apprehended earlier this week and charged with burglary, officials said.
Police said the suspects forced open a window to get inside.
Burglar search
Cops are hoping that a surveillance image helps them nab a burglar who raided an E. 19th Street home on Aug. 13.
The homeowner, who lives between Beverly and Cortelyou roads, said someone forced his way into the home sometime after 9 pm.
A short time later, the thief used one of the credit cards he palmed from the home at a local store, officials said.

Shot down
A gunman pumped a 26-year-old with bullets during a skirmish on Aug. 6, killing him.
Police found the victim lying on the ground near the corner of Clarkson Avenue and E. 95th Street just after 1 am with gunshot wounds to his face and right arm.
He was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he died.
Cops were still looking for the shooter by late Tuesday. Anyone with information regarding this man’s death is urged to call NYPD CrimeStoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
Wipe out graffiti
As the ongoing war against graffiti continues, cops are now offering a $500 reward to anyone with information that can lead them to the vandals that mark up the community.
The hefty reward is part of the city’s new push to rid New York of graffiti, one of the leading quality of life complaints brought to police.
Anyone with information about graffiti vandalism in their neighborhood is urged to contact either 311 or 911.
