A corpse surfaced in the East River off the Navy Yard on Thursday morning, police said.
Cops received a call at 8:46 am reporting a person in the water, according to a police report. Responding officers arrived at the end of Gee Avenue, in the Navy Yard behind Steiner Studios, and found a fully clothed man floating in the Navy Yard Basin, according to the authorities. Medical personnel pronounced the man dead on the scene, police said.
The medical examiner is trying to determine the cause of death, and a police investigation is underway, law enforcement officials said.
