More car burgs!
Despite an arrest last week of a career car window-smasher (allegedly!), more cars were stolen in the DUMBO and Downtown area in the last week. Here’s a round-up:
• A burglar jacked a DUMBO man’s minivan overnight from a spot on Front Street near Jay Street. The man, who lives around the corner on Jay Street, parked his van at around 11:30 pm on Aug. 22, left it there over the weekend, and when he returned on Aug. 25, it was gone.
• A perp stole a Canarsie man’s new Toyota sedan on State Street on Aug. 26. The man left the car between Third Avenue and Nevins Street at around 8:30 am, but when he returned two hours later, the car was gone. He also lost his digital camera and a satellite mapping system.
• A Flatlands man parked his car near the intersection of Hoyt and Wyckoff streets on Aug. 27 at 9:30 am, but when he came back two hours later, the car was gone. Cops said there was no broken glass at the scene, but the victim said he is the only person who has keys to the car.
Elec-gone-ics
A burglar broke into an Atlantic Avenue apartment overnight on Aug. 24 and stole several expensive electronics.
The homeowners, who live near Henry Street, told cops that when they left the apartment at 2 pm, everything was in order. But when they returned the next afternoon, their front door was open.
Closer inspection revealed that a perp had pushed in a fan in a back window, entered the apartment, stole a flat-screen TV, speakers and an iPod, and left through the front door.
Family jewels
A perp stole two pieces of diamond jewelry from a car parked in an Adams Street lot on Aug. 22.
The car’s owner, a Maryland woman, hid a diamond ring and diamond-and-gold earrings worth $4,500 under her car seat and let a valet park her car. But when she retrieved the car the next morning from the lot, which is near Willoughby Street, the rings were gone.

Six thugs mugged a Bronx boy in a Downtown park on Aug. 27.
The victim was sitting on a bench near the intersection of Jay and Tillary streets just before 6 pm when one perp approached him and asked if he had a cellphone. The victim said, “Yes,” so the punk asked for it. That’s when the victim said, “No.”
That answer wasn’t good enough, so a second man came over and punched the victim in the face, grabbing the phone. A third thug snatched the victim’s video game player.
All the perps then ran away on Flatbush Avenue Extension.
Parking not
A perp mugged a Livingston Street man as he was parking his car on Atlantic Avenue early on Aug. 29.
Just as the man got out of his car, which he had parked between Court and Adams streets at around 5:45 am, the thug bashed him in the head with a blunt object, knocked him unconscious, and stole $300.
