Bay Ridge
Just in time for Breast Cancer Awareness month, Maimonides Medical Center unveiled its brand new Breast Cancer Center with fanfare and guests including Dr. Christina Giuliano, director of Breast Imaging; Pamela Brier, president and CEO; Dr. Patrick Borgen, chairman of the department of surgery; Council Speaker Christine Quinn; Martin Payson, chairman of the Board of Trustees; and Borough President Markowitz.
“Brooklyn is incredibly fortunate to have this top-notch facility now available to the women of the borough,” said our very own Celia Weintrob, publisher of our sister publication, The Brooklyn Paper, who also attended.
With state-of-the-art equipment, the $8.6-million venture stands front and center in the war against the disease. “The most advanced diagnoses and care for breast cancer can be found right here in Brooklyn,” said Borgen. The new center provides comprehensive screening, diagnostic, medical and surgical breast services, along with nutrition and genetics counseling and a full array of psycho-social support for patients and their families.
