Peep show
Next up in the annual celebration of voyeurism that is house tour season are some of the most majestic homes in Park Slope. The self-guided walking tour on May 15 focuses on the southern Slope and includes an 1890s carriage house-cum-contemporary loft; an eco-friendly house with geo-thermal heating and cooling; and a 1893 Romanesque Revival home with an antique carpet, an old Victrola, and a rare oil painting of Marilyn Monroe. Look, but don’t touch.

It’s only fair!
The two-week Kings County Fair finally kicks off at Aviator Sports — and this baby delivers everything you want in a fair: funnel cake, corn dogs, carnival rides, face painting, cotton candy and clowns (and that’s just the politicians!). It’s the second annual county fair — and organizers expect big crowds until the whole thing winds down on May 30.

Tattoo you
The U.S. Army returns to Fort Hamilton on May 20 with its Twilight Tattoo, the annual military-themed celebration of fifes, drums, bayonets and gun twirling.
The goal is more than pageantry, but giving locals a taste for army history. Plus, you get to interact with soldiers, which is not a bad thing to do, given that we’re fighting three wars.

Goin’ to Kansas City
It’s about time that you learned to cook ribs for yourself — you know, those fall-off-the-bone pork ribs that make you realize that Jonathan Safran Foer is a fool. Fortunately, Meat Hook butcher Matt Greene will teach you how to slow-cook Kansas City-style pork spare ribs at home — on the stove top! — and he’ll give you the secret to the spicy-sweet-sticky sauce that even Foer craves (you know he does).
