Library love

All you book worms and free DVD rental junkies (you know who you are) should spread some love (and money) at the Brooklyn Public Library’s “Love Your Library Day,” where you can help raise money to counteract some of Bloomberg’s Draconian cuts (yeah, we said it).

10 am-3 pm. Brooklyn Public Library’s Central Branch [Flatbush Avenue at Eastern Parkway in Grand Army Plaza in Park Slope, (718) 230-2100]. For info, visit www.brooklynpubliclibrary.org.

Peep show

Next up in the annual celebration of voyeurism that is house tour season are some of the most majestic homes in Park Slope. The self-guided walking tour on May 15 focuses on the southern Slope and includes an 1890s carriage house-cum-contemporary loft; an eco-friendly house with geo-thermal heating and cooling; and a 1893 Romanesque Revival home with an antique carpet, an old Victrola, and a rare oil painting of Marilyn Monroe. Look, but don’t touch.

Noon-5 pm. House tour starts at PS 107 [1301 Eighth Ave. at 13th Street in Park Slope, (718) 832-8227]. Tickets $25. For info, visit www.parkslopeciviccouncil.org.

It’s only fair!

The two-week Kings County Fair finally kicks off at Aviator Sports — and this baby delivers everything you want in a fair: funnel cake, corn dogs, carnival rides, face painting, cotton candy and clowns (and that’s just the politicians!). It’s the second annual county fair — and organizers expect big crowds until the whole thing winds down on May 30.

5-11 pm. Kings County Fair at Aviator Sports [3159 Flatbush Ave. off the Belt Parkway in Marine Park, (718) 758-7500]. Weekdays, 5-11 pm; Friday, 5 pm-1 am; Saturday, noon-midnight; and Sunday, noon-11 pm. Admission $7, children under three feet are free. For info, visit www.aviatorsports.com/kcf.

Tattoo you

The U.S. Army returns to Fort Hamilton on May 20 with its Twilight Tattoo, the annual military-themed celebration of fifes, drums, bayonets and gun twirling.

The goal is more than pageantry, but giving locals a taste for army history. Plus, you get to interact with soldiers, which is not a bad thing to do, given that we’re fighting three wars.

6:30 pm. Twilight Tattoo at Fort Hamilton [Bay Eighth Street between Cropsey Avenue and Shore Parkway in Dyker Heights, (718) 630-4783].

Goin’ to Kansas City

It’s about time that you learned to cook ribs for yourself — you know, those fall-off-the-bone pork ribs that make you realize that Jonathan Safran Foer is a fool. Fortunately, Meat Hook butcher Matt Greene will teach you how to slow-cook Kansas City-style pork spare ribs at home — on the stove top! — and he’ll give you the secret to the spicy-sweet-sticky sauce that even Foer craves (you know he does).

2 pm. Barbecue ribs class at the Brooklyn Kitchen [100 Frost St. between Manhattan Avenue and Leonard Street in Williamsburg, (718) 389-2981]. Tickets are $75 (includes food). For info, visit www.thebrooklynkitchen.com.
