Breath of ‘Fresh Air’

Put your hands together and help celebrate the Fresh Air Fund’s 137 anniversary — that’s 137 years of providing free summer camps for thousands of underprivileged children across the country.

Fund members met with outreach partners from our fair berg and Manhattan (that borough across the river) to discuss the group’s hopes, dreams, and plans for next year. Participants included: Shaneka Brown of the Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizen’s Council, field specialist Elsa Ruiz, fund executive director Jenny Morgenthau, Diane Feliciano and E-wei Tao of Lutheran Community Services, and Elizabeth Springer of Camba.

Since 1877, more than 1.8 million children from low-income families have been able to fill their lungs with country fresh air, run barefoot through the grass and swim in the lake.

Standing O says, “Thanks for the memories and may you be around for another 137 years.”

Fresh Air Fund is accepting registration for boys and girls 6 through 12 for its Volunteer Host Family Program, and 8 to 15 year olds for the camping program.

To register call (800) 367–0003; or log onto www.fresh‌air.org.
