Fond words and a trip down memory lane marked the occasion when the South Brooklyn Lions Club celebrated more than 50 years of community service with a black-tie charter night at Sirico’s.
Members and supporters united at the Bay Ridge caterers, 8017 13th Avenue, to hail the group’s charitable work, plus confer honors upon President William Eisenhardt for his “outstanding service.”
Group Chaplain Msgr. Jack Waldron was the guest speaker.
The South Brooklyn Lions Club is part of the larger group, Lions Club International, and was established as a community organization to help the visually impaired and others by organizing year-round benefits and other special events.
It has sent blind and visually-impaired children to camp, and raised money for, among others, the Chips Hockey League, Advocates for Services for the Blind Multi-handicapped, Park Slope’s soup kitchens and shelters, plus the Park Slope Ambulance Service.
