Brooklyn never tasted so good

Play with your food!

Families discovered new foods — and new uses for them — during the Brooklyn Children’s Museum’s Taste of Brooklyn weekend, which celebrated the diversity of the borough’s culinary treasures on Aug. 28 and Aug. 29.

Among the many workshops geared toward kids were pasta painting, in which aspiring artists created masterpieces with cooked pasta; and couscous on the loose, where kids sampled the Moroccan specialty and learned about different recipes featuring the food. The workshop ¡Viva la Salsa! taught kids how to harvest vegetables right from the vine in the museum’s greenhouse and turn the ingredients into yummy salsa.

Also on the menu were recipes kids got to use for their very own recipe book to take home and sandwiches from Master Baker and Sunset Park’s Don Paco Lopez Bakery.

Brooklyn Children’s Museum [145 Brooklyn Av. at St. Marks Avenue in Crown Heights, (718) 735-440]. Open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am-5 pm.
