When Abe Weintraub was born in 1910, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden became part of the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences, the average teacher was 25 years old and earned $500 a year, and advancements in entertainment, science, technology and fads marked the decade.
The spry senior, who has lived through multiple wars, celebrated a personal milestone when he turned 100 years young surrounded by a throng of loved ones at St. Nicholas Home in Bay Ridge.
Sons, Joel and Irwin, and sister Florence, joined with friends and staff members in providing the birthday boy with a grand time at the adult residence, 437 Ovington Avenue.
