Potato sack races, sprint dashes and other fun games had youngsters from PS 254 challenging mettle while enjoying some down time during a sports day at the Malone Center in Bergen Beach.
The sun-kissed day provided a welcome springboard for budding athletes to put their best foot forward for a cornucopia of special events and activities on April 14 — among them, kickball, a tug-of-war and relay races — at the community facility, Bergen Avenue and Avenue X.
“I’m gonna do good today because I’m with my friends and we all encourage each other,” said Michelle Kotch, a budding David Beckham who, according to our photog, proved to be a master of the soccer dribble.
The school is located on Avenue Y, between E. 18th and E. 19th streets.
