Green storage

This summer, green is in and following this trend, Hall Street Storage is the first and only green storage facility in the country.

Hall Street qualifies for the Green-e logo, a nationally recognized symbol allowing consumers to identify companies that use certified renewable energy sold throughout North America.

One-hundred percent of the electricity Hall Street uses is from renewable sources, and many discarded materials are reused in one way or another. For example, shipping cartons and shredded paper are often used as an alternative to bubble wrap, and Hall Street sells biodegradable packing peanuts made of cornstarch.

Located in the Wallabout/Clinton Hill area of Downtown Brooklyn, Hall Street’s warehouse fills most of a full city block, has five loading docks and boasts easy access and outstanding service.

Beyond that, Hall Street’s unique attribute is its ongoing commitment to introduce new green actions throughout the year. As Jeffrey E. Sitt, President of Hall Street Storage, said, “Our commitment to having the lowest impact on the environment is more than one of policy — it’s become our primary passion.”

Hall Street’s warehouse is more than just a place to put your unused furniture, it’s a place to help save the world.

Donate blood, and you could meet Linkin Park

Blood services and the music business have teamed up to create Music Saves Lives, a blood drive being held at the McCarren Park Pool this Sunday, July 20. All successful donors will receive VIP passes to the upcoming Vans Warped Tour, which provides the donor with the opportunity to meet and hang out with performers like Katy Perry and Linkin Park.

In the summer months, blood supplies become low and the New York Blood Center must make up for this loss by attracting people to events that will encourage them to donate. (You can donate blood if you are 17 years old.)

Music Saves Lives offers the perfect solution: free concerts in the park with the opportunity to donate blood. Ellen Kramer, an organizer of the event, points out that “backstage passes are just a perk, the important thing here is that we are saving lives.”

Red Flag Wednesdays on Atlantic Avenue
