Summer has arrived. Are you in shape?
Get your body toned, establish a daily workout routine, and keep fit, with help from MCS Specialized Private Fitness (409A 16th Street, 718-768-8986).
Owner Marcos Crespo and his team of professional trainers specialize in helping people achieve their fitness goals, whether its weight loss, post-natal, post-rehabilitation (after physical therapy treatment), sports training, general fitness, and more.
It starts with an assessment that includes evaluating flexibility, cardio, strength, body mass, and blood pressure, says Marcos. If your goals call for a discussion with a doctor, they’ll take care of that as well. Then, a one-on-one program will be custom-designed for you, based on this information.
The personal training may involve the use of the equipment on the premises. This includes treadmills, bikes, free weights, multi-functioning machines, punching bags, and speed bags. Resistance exercise is essential, and part of the routine may include push-ups and squats. The latter is “very important,” says Marcos, as it exercises a number of muscles in the body, and “raises the heart rate.”
If you have injuries to the extent that some of these exercises may be awkward or painful, everything can be modified to accommodate you, says Marcos. That’s the wonderful thing about one-on-one training.
If you’re looking to excel at a certain sport, they’ll teach you how to play it, and they’ll practice with you, too, says Marcos.
While exercise is vital to good health, Marcos maintains that “Nutrition is 85% of reaching your goal.” So what’s a good, healthy diet to follow? Again, it depends upon your goals, says Marcos.
If you’re training to run a marathon, you may want to load up on carbs, he says. If you’re looking to manage weight, you may want to concentrate more on eating protein. These are among the many topics that will be discussed when you join MCS Specialized Private Fitness.
Marcos does point out that, generally speaking, it’s a good idea to eat consistently every three hours. This may mean “eating five to six times a day, depending on your activity level.”
At MCS Specialized Private Fitness, you count on receiving professional, courteous service. “You receive the kind of quality care you expect from a leader,” says Marcos. Before establishing this business in 2004, Marcos worked in Manhattan, and had the privilege of helping celebrities keep fit and healthy. He doesn’t drop names because it’s all confidential. His credentials include certification from the National Federation of Professional Trainers, and all his trainers are certified in specialized areas as well, he says.
“We work closely with you to ensure that the solutions we provide are tailored to meet your unique needs and challenges,” he says. “We are committed to your success.”
Superior customer service is something in which they all take great pride. “You are important to us, and you can expect us to go the extra mile,” he says.
Patrons can choose to come for training as frequently as time permits, he says. There are packages that range from one session to 150 sessions, and many in between.
If you want to bring a friend or spouse along for inspiration and support, there are “buddy” packages that offer reduced rate packages for two persons training at the same time.
Summer Specials are also being offered for a limited time, and if you contact him soon, you may still be able to take advantage of buys such as 3 sessions for $99, he says. The usual package prices are listed at the website, www.mcsspfitness.com.
Marcos lives in the community in which he works, and believes in giving back to residents. He does so by providing health and fitness seminars. He is especially active in the local high schools where he has presented assemblies, teaching students how to keep fit, a very important lesson when one considers that obesity is so prevalent among the young.
MCS Specialized Private Fitness is open Mondays through Fridays, from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m., and they are open on Saturdays as well. Contact the friendly staff for additional information. Begin reaching your fitness goals today.
