Busy Chef — the Brooklyn-based restaurant that makes fast food seem like home cooking — is expanding from its original corner at Henry and Cranberry streets in Brooklyn Heights.
This week, Busy Chef opened a second location at 111 Court St., across from the United Artists 12-plex, between State and Schermerhorn streets. And later this spring, a Busy Chef will open at Hanson Place and Fulton Street in Fort Greene. A fourth Busy Chef is slated to open in Chelsea this summer.
The original Busy Chef transformed the Henry/Cranberry corner into a food destination with four related outlets: Busy Chef, plus Oven, a high-end pizza joint; Blue Pig, an ice cream parlor; and The Wine Bar at 50 Henry St.
Busy Chef offers prepared, take-home (or delivered) single serving meals, and you get a free salad with every sandwich or entree purchased. Entrees range from $6 to $12 and include Grilled or Curried Chicken with Vegetables ($8), Sole Filet with Vegetables ($10), NY Strip Steak with Mashed Potatoes ($12), Macaroni & Cheese ($6), among many others. Panini and wrap sandwiches are $5, with about 20 varieties to choose from daily. There is also a wide selection of desserts baked on premises, ranging from $4 to $5.
The “marketplace style” layout, with different stations for sandwiches, coffee, drinks and desserts, is easy to navigate. The Court Street location has a patio out back.
