Butcher shooter busted
Investigators have arrested one of the men allegedly responsible for last year’s shooting at Romeo Brothers Meats and Foods.
Prosecutors said that 36-year-old Andrew Gibson was taken into custody on March 3 after being connected to the December 18 shooting at the 15th Avenue butcher shop.
Officials alleged that Gibson and another man entered the store near 78th Street at 4:30 p.m. and pulled a gun on the wife of the owner, who was putting in a few hours behind the counter.
“This is a robbery and we’re going to kill you,” one of the thieves threatened as he pointed a gun at her head and forced her to empty the till.
The suspects were fleeing the store with $10,000 when Gibson allegedly turned around and shot the woman in the back.
When the owner returned a few minutes later, he found his wife lying on the floor, writhing in pain.
Paramedics rushed the woman to Lutheran Medical Center, where she was treated for internal and stomach injuries.
After a three-month investigation, cops tracked down and captured Gibson, a Crown Heights resident, charging him with attempted murder, assault and robbery.
The sandman busteth
This guy was working so hard at burglarizing homes he needed a nap. What he shouldn’t have done was take one in his victim’s home.
Police allege that 44-year-old Vladimir Frid was taken into custody last week after he was found lounging out on a couch inside a Coyle Street apartment that he had just broken into.
Frid reportedly broke the window to the rear door to the basement apartment near Avenue X sometime after 7:40 a.m. on March 6.
After ransacking the home, and nursing a cut he received during the break in, Frid must have thought it was time for a break.
When the tenant returned a short time later, Frid was found on his couch, officials said.
Responding officers charged him with burglary.
Pushy pleas
Cops are looking for three teenage girls who bumrushed and robbed a 41-year-old woman as they fired off a sob story about a sick mother.
Police said that the woman was nearing the corner of Benson Avenue and Bay 22nd Street at 4:20 p.m. on March 3 when the three teens pushed the woman to the ground.
They then punched and kicked the woman as they tried to get her bag, all the while claiming that they needed the victim’s money because their “mom is sick.”
After a brief struggle, the victim finally handed $50 to the thieves, who ran off into the night.
Stopped and robbed
Two young toughs were arrested last week after they tried to rob another young man on Neptune Avenue.
Police allege that Isiah Hightower, 19, and Gabriel Gonzalez, 18, stopped their victim near Ocean Parkway just before 1 a.m. on March 6 and wouldn’t let him pass unless he handed over his property.
After a few tense moments the alleged thieves ran off, only to be apprehended by responding police officers.
Cops charged them with attempted robbery, menacing and harassment.
Boardwalk blues
A man visiting Coney Island was knocked to the ground and robbed of his cell phone as he walked along the Boardwalk last week, officials said.
Police said that the victim was nearing West 33rd Street just after 5 p.m. on March 4 when suspect Curt Robinson, 37, ran up and shoved him.
The victim fell to the ground and Robinson began kicking him, said police. He then grabbed the man’s cell phone and ran off.
Cops apprehended Robinson within a half hour, charging him with robbery in the second degree and criminal possession of stolen property.
Ventilated
Thieves snuck into a Gravesend Neck Road laundromat last week, swiping $1200 in receipts.
Workers at Baron Cleaners, located near East 16th Street, told police that when they showed up for work at 7:45 a.m. on February 27, they discovered that someone had broken through an exhaust vent in the back of the store.
Once he wiggled through the hole, the thief had no trouble taking the money from the register, cops were told.

Robbed of iPhone
Cops are looking for the two thugs who grabbed a woman by the neck and robbed her of her cell phone in Sheepshead Bay.
the victim told police that she was nearing the corner of East 23rd Street and Avenue Z just after 6 p.m. on February 24 when the two suspects, both in their late teens, grabbed the woman from behind.
They reportedly throttled the woman until she relinquished control of her cell phone, which was in her hand, police said.

Raising the roof
Thieves tunneled their way through the top of the Bay Quick Mart, 1511 Voorhies Avenue, recently, taking thousands of dollars in cash, cigarettes and phone cards.
Employees told police that they closed up shop at 11 p.m. on February 21. When they returned at 8:30 a.m. the next morning, they discovered that someone had torn a hole in the roof.
Whoever did so repelled down and removed $1,000 from a locked drawer and $400 from the register, as well as cigarettes and phone cards. A DVR was also taken, officials said.
