By George, it’s a Gershwin tribute!

George and Ira are back where they belong.

The popular sounds of the Gershwin brothers are coming to their hometown on March 20 as the Brooklyn Center of the Performing Arts presents “’S Wonderful,” a show based on their music, lyrics and legacy.

“They changed the world’s perception of American music,” said director Ray Roderick. “They made music accessible and sophisticated at the same time.”

The performance is broken down into five mini-musicals from eras and locations that were significant for the Gershwins. That meansNew York during the 1920s, as well as New Orleans, Paris and Hollywood, with songs like “Funny Face,” “Rhapsody in Blue,” and “I’ve Got Rhythm” serving as guides.

The final story features a modern young lad who downloads Gershwin classics — and likes them.

“We wanted to show that people are still falling in love with the same thing we loved years ago,” said Roderick. “And that’s the great music and great lyrics of the Gershwins.”

“’S Wonderful” at the Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College [2900 Campus Rd. at Hillel Place in Flatbush, (718) 951-4500], March 20 at 3 pm. Tickets $32. For info, visit www.brooklyncenteronline.org.
