Shut up!
Big−hearted boroughites waged war on a killer disease by putting on the dog and strutting out in style during a Pink & Black Tie Gala benefit for the American Cancer Society, hosted by Brooklyn’s own Stacy London of TLC’s “What Not to Wear.”
The raven−haired fashionista from Carroll Gardens dazzled the comely crowd assembled at Steiner Studios in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, 15 Washington Avenue.
Billed “Brooklyn Rocks,” the extravaganza drew the cream of the borough’s music and people, beginning with a “Live Like a Rock Star” silent auction, featuring travel, fashion and lifestyle prizes, plus a live auction kicked off by Borough President Marty Markowitz offering hotel stays in Hawaii, Mexico and Puerto Rico in addition to a fashion consultation with London, lunch with fashion guru Tim Gunn, and a hair cut and style by celebrity stylist Oscar Blandi.
The occasion also served to honor four local leaders for their contributions to the fight against cancer: Peter Meyer, president, NYC Markets, and Eileen Holmes, vice president, Retail Markets, TD Bank, “Corporate Leadership”; Dr. Harry Winters, Division of Chief, Gastroenterology, Department of Internal Medicine, Woodhull Hospital, “Health Care Leadership”; and Margo Lewis, founder, 96Magnolia Show House: Live Style. Live Well. Live Green, “Volunteer Leadership.”
