Time to cash in those tokens!

Cashless tolling on the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge starts this Sunday. From April 30, overhead cameras will record license plates as cars zoom by, and drivers without an E-Zpass will be mailed a bill for the trip — at the residence that’s registered with their plate — instead of stopping to hand over the $4.25 toll.

Gov. Cuomo announced last fall that all state-operated bridges and tunnels would forgo token and cash collection in 2017 as a way to improve traffic flow and reduce pollution from idling cars waiting to pay.

Nothing will change for drivers with E-ZPass, but for those without, a Tolls by Mail bill will be sent to the address registered with the car, and drivers can pay by mail or online.

Starting April 30, cash and tokens on the Queens-Brooklyn connector over the Rockaway Inlet will no longer be accepted, but commuters with leftover tokens can redeem them for a refund.

To request a token refund kit, call (212) 360–3000, option #6. For information on setting up an E-ZPass account, visit www.ezpassny.com or call 1-800-333-8655.
