Chama Mama, the celebrated Georgian restaurant group known for its modern twist on traditional cuisine, expanded its reach with a new location in Brooklyn Heights last year.
The eatery, which first opened its doors in Chelsea in 2019, has quickly established itself as a go-to destination for local diners thanks to its authentic Georgian fare and expansive wine selection.
Chama Mama’s newest outpost is located at 121 Montague St. in the heart of Brooklyn Heights. The location offers the same seasonal brunch, lunch, and dinner menus, complete with handcrafted cocktails and thoughtfully chosen Georgian wine pairings for every dish.
Brooklynites can now grab a friend and say “Gaumarjos,” a Georgian cheer meaning “to victory,” while indulging in signature dishes.
Among the standout offerings during Brooklyn Paper’s recent visit was Adjaruli Khachapuri, a signature dish that features a boat-shaped bread generously filled with a rich blend of cheeses. Topped with a fresh egg yolk and a dollop of butter, the dish was mixed right at the table, giving guest an immersive dinner experience.
Another highlight were the Khinkali, traditional Georgian dumplings that come with various fillings, including beef, pork, lamb, and mushroom and a tasty broth.
Lastly, don’t miss out on cherished Georgian desserts including the honey cake, chocolate velvet with fresh berries or pelamushi, a pudding made from thickened grape juice and finished with a sprinkle of walnuts.
Chama Mama’s owners say the restaurant’s growth can be attributed to its commitment to quality, hospitality, and the culinary vision of its head chef, Nino Chiokadze.
Originally from Tbilisi, Chiokadze brings a rich heritage and passion for her homeland’s cuisine. Inspired by her grandparents’ cooking traditions, her dishes reflect the flavors and warmth of Georgia.
Lasha Tsatava, beverage director for Chama Mama, is leading the charge on the drinks front. Tsatava’s knowledge of wine further promotes Georgian history and culinary culture. His expertise is pivotal in curating a wine list that perfectly complements Chama Mama’s seasonal menus.
To celebrate the opening of the Brooklyn Heights location, Chama Mama invites food lovers and local residents to experience the vibrant new space and delectable offerings firsthand. For anyone looking to explore the charms of Chama Mama in Brooklyn Heights, the restaurant is now open and ready to welcome guests with open arms.
