An out-of-control Mustang slammed into a Hyundai Sonata near the corner of Emmons Avenue and Ford Street on March 24 — sparking a chain of events that caused two injuries and left a block-long swath of damaged cars in its wake.
Horrified witnesses saw the Mustang flying westbound along Emmons Avenue right before it struck the Sonata, which was making a left turn from Ford Street at 12:40 pm.
The Mustang ricocheted off the Sonata, spiraling into a beverage truck and several cars parked along the Emmons Avenue median.
When it finally came to a stop, the Mustang had lost a wheel. The driver also lost the ability to open his door and had to wait for responding firefighters to free him from his muscle car. All told, six vehicles were damaged.
The Mustang owner and the senior citizen driving the Sonata were both rushed to area hospitals for treatment. No arrests were made.
