Wrong-way parkway
A 30-year-old man was arrested for speeding, driving without a license, and causing a serious accident involving two other cars after turning into oncoming traffic on the Belt Parkway on June 26.
The arresting officer was staking out Bay Parkway near Shore Parkway in an unmarked police cruiser at 6:12 am when he clocked in the suspect as going 85 miles-per-hour in a 55 miles-per-hour zone. That’s when the officer turned on his emergency lights in an attempt to issue a violation to the suspect — who initially stopped his vehicle — but then reversed his car and drove up an exit ramp into oncoming traffic on the Belt Parkway, cops said.
The chase came to an abrupt end when the suspect collided head-on with two oncoming vehicles, causing serious injuries to the drivers of the other vehicles, police said.
Slashing suspect
A 30-year-old man was arrested for slashing the tires on a man’s 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis on Cropsey Avenue on June 8.
A witness told police that he was near Bay Parkway at 10:55 pm when he saw the suspect slash the victim’s tires.
Minivan mashup
A 29-year-old was arrested for drunk driving on Bath Avenue on June 24 — after crashing into a parked minivan.
The arresting officer responded to the accident near 20th Avenue at 4:45 am, where he found the suspect standing beside his 2010 Chrysler 300 that had smashed into the rear of a double-parked minivan, cops said.
The driver told the officer that he had consumed two Heinekens about two hours before the accident, but a breathalyzer test showed his blood-alcohol content was .159-percent, cops said.
