They were on point, if not quite yet en pointe.
Dozens of Brooklyn youngsters auditioned for the esteemed School of American Ballet in Brooklyn Heights on Saturday afternoon, and the institution’s press guru said the search yielded an impressive crop of future prima ballerinas.
“There is a great talent pool in the city,” said Amy Bordy, who is the director of public relations at the prestigious school.
Bordy said 64 young dancers aged 6 to 10 showed up to score one of the 140 open spots in the Manhattan school — one of the world’s most famous classical ballet schools — this fall, and estimated nearly 700 kids will try out throughout the city.
The dance institution has been taking its search on the road to find promising young dancers for the past 20 years, she said, and will also host auditions in neighboring boroughs before it makes its final cut.
The squirts didn’t have to come in with any previous ballet experience — faculty examined the pee-wee piouretters’ feet, proportions, and flexibility to determine if they’d be a match for the 82-year-old school, and watched them dance and skip to ballet music to see if they can move to the beat.
