Hundreds of Ecuadorians celebrated Christmas with an 11 a.m. mass and a traditional post-mass feast at St. Brigid’s Church, 409 Linden Street.
Though the community remains shaken by several hate crimes directed at Ecuadorians, including one last month that claimed the life of parishioner Jose Sucuzhanay, the Christmas nativity play went on for the afternoon and well into the evening.
Several parishioners dressed in traditional Ecuadorian garb and listened to a lively brass band before feasted on roast pork and several rice dishes and grabbing Dixie cups of white wine.
