The sidewalk from hell has become heavenly!
The Department of Transportation finally fixed the broken path on Avenue U between Pearson and East 57th street in Mill Basin after we reported on the dangerous conditions.
The sidewalk was destroyed when a tree fell during a nor’easter in February. The section was broken into pieces, making it dangerous for anyone — and completely impossible for people in wheelchairs — to pass.
Block residents called the city “pathetic” for failing to repair the sidewalk in a timely manner. But they’re all smiles now.
“You couldn’t even walk on it before. It was dangerous,” said Jeffrey Sacks. “I’m glad that it has been fixed.”
