Grimebusters from the Gowanus Canal Conservancy help turn an eyesore into a sight for sore eyes during the inaugural ‘Clean & Green’ campaign to spruce up the banks of the famed inlet, beginning at DeGraw Street, between Bond Street and the canal. The group collected more than 20 bags of trash and planted wildflower seeds in the dirt along the canal.
The beautification effort supports the Parks Department’s GreenStreets program to transform paved, vacant concrete areas into enjoyable green spaces.
