Casey Meisner collected his second-straight win of the season and the Cyclones are now tied for the wildcard spot in the New York Penn League after a win over the Tigers on Monday night.
The Cyclones took scored three runs in the first when John Mora lead off with a double and scored on a single from Amed Rosario. Rosario ended up on second thanks to an error on the play, and Michael Conforto drove him home with a single. Conforto later scored on a single by Michael Bernal.
The Tigers shortened the lead in the second and then again in the fourth, but Meisner kept the competition relatively quiet as he pitched a season-high six innings, gave up the two hits on six runs while striking out six.
Brooklyn tacked on a run on the seventh as Jeff Diehl, pinch hitting for Wil Fulmer, drove in Jhoan Abreu who reached on a double.
Carlos Valdez through a perfect seventh before a walk and an error lead to another Tigers run in the eighth, when Shane Bay came in to close out the game, earning his 10th save of the year.
The Cyclones get a day off today, then head to Mahoning Valley for the first time this season to take on the Scrappers.
Ups and downs
A big Diehl: Cyclones first baseman, Jeff Diehl has slowly been making his way back0 after suffering an oblique injury. On Aug. 3, he made his first plate appearance since July 18 and later drove in the winning run.
Muppet caper: Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the gang were on hand as part of Muppet Night at MCU Park on Monday. The Muppets also had a meet and great with two children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
