Shortstop Amed Rosario hit the go-ahead double, breaking a tie in the ninth inning of Sunday’s matinee against the Muckdogs.
The Cyclones and Muckdogs stayed scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when sloppy Cyclones defense resulted in two consecutive errors. A wild pitch by Alberto Baldonado scored the first run of the game and a line drive single after that scored the second Muckdog run. Baldonado pitched five innings, giving up two runs on seven hits while striking out seven.
The Cyclones batters responded in the fifth inning and cut the Muckdogs lead in half when Tyler Moore drove in Jeff Diehl from third with a sacrifice fly. Josh Prevost came in to relieve Baldonado and kept the ’Dogs on their leash, as he gave up only three hits in the three innings.
The game was tied in the seventh when Amed Rosario scored Pedro Perez with a single. In the ninth, two consecutive walks put Perez and Moore on first and second before Tucker Tharp’s sacrifice bunt advanced the runners to second and third. Rosario then came through with the double that scored bother runners, giving the Cycloe=nes the lead. The inning ended after another run was scored by Adrien Abreu with a sacrifice fly.
The Cyclones and Muckdogs face off one more time before the Mini Mets return home on Tuesday.
