Clones shutout!

Aberdeen 3
Cyclones 0

June 26 at Aberdeen

Stingy Aberdeen IronBirds pitching gave up jut one Brooklyn hit as the Cyclones were shut out for the first time this season in a game called in the eighth inning because of rain.

The Clones’ lone hit came in the third when Anthony Chavez singled with one out, but he never made it past first since outfielder Patrick “To Infinity and” Biondi grounded out and shortstop Gavin Cecchini struck out to end the inning.

Aberdeen designated hitter Connor Bierfeldt inflicted most of the damage to the Cyclones with a pair of RBI singles, one in the first and one in the sixth.. The first came in the opening inning, which sent Sam Kimmel, who had singled and then stole second, home.

The loss comes despite a solid six innings from John Gant, who struck out 10 Ironbirds.

The Cyclones look to avoid their third straight loss to the IronBird tonight in Aberdeen, which for those that you who are really inquisitive, is in Maryland. If you’ve ever driven down to Washington or beyond, you can see the team’s ballpark from I-95.
