State College 5

July 25 at State College

After a one-game hiatus, the Cyclone bats returned to pummel the Spikes under a 14-hit barrage.

The Clones got on the board first with a single run in the fourth on Cole Frenzel’s first dinger of the year, but State College got it back, plus two more, thanks to a homer of their own in the bottom of the frame.

After that, it was all Cyclones.

In the sixth, Daniel Muno led off with his 11th double of the year, scoring on a sacrific fly. A Brian Harrison RBI single added another run.

Muno got on base with a single in the seventh, then stole second and third, and scored on a throwing error by the catcher.

With the Spikes crawling back, the Cyclones scored five in the ninth to put the game out of reach. The big blow was Travis Taijeron’s grand slam. A Muno single added an RBI to close out the scoring.

On the night, Muno was 3-for-5 to lift his average to .375.

The Cyclones are home vs. Connecticut Tigers at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 17th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497] on July 27 at 7 pm. For info, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com.
