Clones win in ninth

Cyclones 3
Hudson Valley 2

June 24 at Hudson Valley

Ninth-inning rallies are becoming commonplace for our beloved Cyclones.

This time, the Clones broke a 2–2 tie in the top of the final frame with a sacrifice fly by Gavin Cecchini scored Ismael Tijerini from third with the deciding run.

Cristian Chivilli pitched the final three innings, giving up just one hit, to earn the win.

The Clones scored one in the first when lead-off hitter Patrick “To Infinity and” Biondi walked, before singles by Gavin Cecchini, L.J. “Mini Mazz” Mazzilli and Jared King, got him around the bases. But Hudson Valley hurler Julian Ridings got out of the jam with a strikeout and a double play.

The Brooklyn’s second run came in the fourth, when Matthew “Bright Eyes” Oberste walked and scored on a double by Alexander Sanchez.

The Cyclones two latest wins handed the Renegades its first two losses of the season, and Brooklyn will look to sweep Hudson Valley in the final game of the set tonight at Dutchess Stadium.
