We think it’s the first-time jitters.
An antsy bank robber – who was so excited that he apparently didn’t think about wearing a disguise or covering himself up – is being sought for knocking over the Capital One Bank at 3090 Ocean Avenue last week.
But he will soon have to pay the price for his mistake as cops start combing the area looking for him – armed with some pristine video surveillance shots.
Officials said that the thief, described as a six-foot-tall, 160-pound, 35-year-old white male with blue eyes and salt and pepper slicked-back hair, entered the bank, located between Shore Parkway and Voorhies Avenue at 5:45 p.m. on September 22 and handed the teller a white paper bag.
“Put the money in there, fast…fast…fast!” the hurried thief said as he motioned inside his jacket as if he had a gun.
The teller handed over about $750 in cash as well as some funny money surrounding a dye pack.
The thief took the money and ran off.
Officials said that the dye pack exploded near a tree pit on Voorhies Avenue as the thief made his escape.
The next morning, the remains of the red dye could be found splattered on the ground as well as the tree.
Cops didn’t catch the thief, although he was probably doused in red dye as well, sources speculated.
But that doesn’t matter.
With the excellent photos they have – including one where he is looking directly at the hidden camera – its only a matter of time before the thief is in custody.
Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this theft to come forward.
