“America’s most convenient bank” arrived with fanfare when industry officials joined area dignitaries to celebrate the grand opening of a new Commerce Bank in Dyker Heights.
The branch, 1301 65th Street, was launched with a carnival-themed party, featuring free food and refreshments, strolling entertainers and deejay music, as workers mixed business with pleasure while acquainting themselves with the community.
Games and raffles for cash prizes of up to $500, plus a weekend getaway, capped the celebration.
Commerce Bank opened its first office in Marlton, New Jersey in 1973, fine-tuning a retail model that “fueled a steady organic” to present day.
At the close of 2007, Commerce Bank had assets of nearly $50 billion, and was operating more than 450 offices in eight states and Washington, DC.
