Condo for sale: Asking $25 Million

Say brother, can you spare $25 million?

If the answer is yes, then Two Trees Management has a deal for you.

The DUMBO developers put their last condo at One Main Street up for sale a week ago with the hefty listing price.

If the sale goes through, it will easily be the priciest condo ever sold in Brooklyn, said Asher Abehsera, who works for Two Trees.

The current record holder is one that sold for $8 million in the same building, he said.

“The intention was always to create America’s most magnificent and spectacular triplex, and because of the views and architecture, the space served as a conduit to create something spectacular,” he added.

The 7,000-square-foot clock tower space takes up the top three floors of the building from the 16th to the 18th floor plus a climate controlled rooftop lounge with contractible glass.

“The 16th floor of the building was originally an open space with a 50-foot ceiling, and the original four clocks that are each 14 feet in diameter,” said Abehsera. “Then we put in an elevator in glass in the core of the space and then a wraparound staircase around the elevator that goes three floors up.”

Abehsera said the clocks all function both as timekeepers and windows so there are views of all of Manhattan, the New Jersey Harbor and all of Brooklyn.

“It’s like a mansion in the sky,” he said, adding that the living quarters is on the second floor and includes three bedrooms and three bathrooms with a powder room on the entertainment floor.

The building was built in 1914 and was the last of the neighborhood’s manufacturing buildings. RobertGair, the inventor of corrugated cardboard and who revolutionized the shipping business with it, owned the building at one time.

After Two Trees bought the property several years ago when DUMBO was rezoned for residential, they converted it to condos and sold all 108 units, said Abehsera.

Abehsera said that since putting the $25 million apartment on the market just a week ago, two parties have already expressed interest and one has put in a bid.

“They are two very capable parties,” said Abehsera. “When it does sell, God willing, it will probably break the record forever as the costliest condo in Brooklyn.”
