Mom killer busted
A 52-year-old Coney Island man was arrested on Dec. 17 for smothering his own mother to death during a “mercy killing.”
Police were called to the Luna Park apartment complex, which is on W. 12th Street, at 7:45 am after Yefim Tsirinsky called them there, admitting to smothering his 86-year-old mother with a pillow.
His mother, Frieda, was found lying on her bed without a pulse, but paramedics were able to revive her and rush her to an area hospital, where she died the next day.
Tsirinsky, who was charged with murder in the second degree, told police he killed his mother because she had made it clear she no longer wanted to live.
Teen jumped
Five thugs surrounded a teenager on Avenue Z on Dec. 17 as he made his way to a local convenience store.
The victim was walking between E. 23rd and E. 24th streets at 11:50 pm when the suspects grabbed him, demanding he hand over all of his belongings.
But the thieves ran off without taking anything, said police, who arrested two of the suspects shortly after.
Gunning for cigarettes
A thug pulled a gun on a young couple walking along Ocean Avenue on Dec. 13, robbing them of their belongings.
The victims told police they were between Avenues V and W at 1:30 am when the thief approached, asking to bum a cigarette.
When the victims said they didn’t smoke, the thief pulled a gun and demanded their valuables.
Prescription for arrest
A Bonnie-and-Clyde couple robbed a man of an assortment of prescription drugs on Ocean Avenue on Dec. 8, but didn’t get far.
The victim told police that he was nearing Avenue Z at 10:12 pm when the couple ran up to him and robbed him.
They then jumped into a 2004 Cadillac and zoomed off, but were apprehended when their SUV was pulled over at the corner of Avenue U and W. Fifth Street.
Door kicker nabbed
A thug forced his way into an 81st Street home on Dec. 18, attacking a man he found inside.
The victim told police he was sitting inside his home, which is between Bay Parkway and 23rd Avenue, when the 22-year-old attacker kicked open the door, brandishing a metal pipe.
The man swung the pipe at his victim, striking him in the hands, cops were told.
Getting the point
A 17-year-old girl was arrested in Coney Island on Dec. 17 after she stabbed her boyfriend in the buttocks.
Police said that she and her beau were arguing inside her W. 11th Street home at 5:30 pm when she attacked, leaving her boyfriend with a deep cut that needed medical attention.
Grinch grab
A 22-year-old was arrested this week for a Nov. 26 raid inside the Toys R’ Us inside the Caesar’s Bay Shopping Plaza.
Officials said that the thief and two others swiped iPod touches, Blu Ray players and an assortment of video games from the store and tried to flee.
They fought off a security guard who tried to stop them and fled — but they didn’t get far. Police said that the man apprehended this week was the second man involved in the three man crew, but the third and last suspect had still not been found.
iPhone grab
A knife-wielding goon jumped a 31-year-old man on Ocean Avenue on Dec. 6, taking his iPhone.
The victim was walking his dog between Avenues W and X at 2:50 am when the thief ran up to him, demanding his phone.
The two struggled, but the victim handed over his pricey smart phone once the thief pulled a knife, demanding, “Give me all of your sh-t or I’ll stab you in the neck.”
74-year-old beaten
A thug jumped a senior citizen on Dec. 4 during a clash inside the victim’s Shore Parkway building.
The victim said that his attacker — a neighbor — was arguing with him at 7 pm, when he hit the elderly man in the face with a blunt object.
The thug then fled, leaving the senior with minor bruises, officials said.
Jewelry grab
More than $46,000 in jewelry was removed from a Gravesend home on Dec. 7.
A tenant inside a W. Seventh Street apartment, which is between Avenues U and V, said she returned home at 3:30 pm, only to find her bedroom ransacked.
