Now this is what we call a Scream Zone.
From now until Halloween, Luna Park will be transformed from a warm-weather destination into a horrifying land of ghosts, ghouls, zombies and nightmares.
During Luna Park’s “Nights of Horror,” the entire Surf Avenue amusement area between the former Astroland site and KeySpan Park becomes a chilling, creepy commune of crazy, gore-soaked characters and a Vampire Dance Club — so go scare yourself silly by the seashore.
Kids of all ages will be screaming for the nearest exit as they run from chainsaw-wielding scarecrows at Cudi Farm’s haunted maze, and are subsequently greeted by blood-thirsty, machete-waving clowns in a far-from-fun Carnival fun house.
There will be plenty of chills, but some thrills as well: Valerio Ferrari, president of Central Amusement International, the company that opened Luna Park two years ago, said those who dare attend Nights of Horror will have unlimited access to the park’s thrill and family rides. The Scream Zone and the Cyclone — dubbed the “Haunted Cyclone” until All Hallow’s Eve — are not included in the $30 cover charge.
“Nights of Horror means that October is still time to scream in Coney Island,” said Ferrari.
And even the bravest of souls will scream, Ferrari promised — that is, until they run out of breath.
