Police have arrested three men who they say harassed and shot at a group of men dressed in drag in Bushwick on Saturday morning.
The alleged gunman and two others started following the 22-year-old victim and his friends when they spotted them dressed in women’s clothing on Putnam Avenue between Broadway and Bushwick Avenue at 7 am, according to law enforcement officials. The trio hurled homophobic slurs at the group before the fiend opened fire and hit the victim in the backside, a report states.
Cops arrested the three suspects later in the day, charging the supposed triggerman with felony assault and the other two with menacing as a hate crime.
Paramedics took the victim to Brookdale Hospital, where he is in stable condition officers said.
The site of the shooting is 11 blocks from where two men attacked Ecuadorian brothers Jose and Romel Sucuzhanay early one morning in 2008, killing Jose Sucuzhanay, because they believed the two were gay.
