School’s out
Police arrested a school custodian who they say stole items from the Parkville Avenue school’s office — including money from a safe — on May 13.
The school’s principal told cops she locked the doors of the office near E. Eighth Street and locked the safe before she left at 10:30 pm. But when she returned at 7:30 am the next day, the office was ransacked and the safe was open, missing an unspecified amount of money.
The suspect had a master key to the office, but had no legitimate purpose to be there, as his primary responsibility is the cafeteria, police reported.
Money trail
A man illegally used stolen credit card to pay for three different repairs to his car at a Coney Island Avenue shop on May 26 and 27, police said
The owner of the credit card said he found three different charges on his statement: two on May 26 at 3:18 and 3:38 pm, and the other on May 27 at 2:29 pm — each at the service center near Ditmas Avenue. He told police he reviewed surveillance tapes provided by the manager of the center, witnessing the suspect using the card each time.
The charges to the card were for $326, $350 and $980, exceeding the victim’s credit limit.
Fish and soap?
A man was arrested for attempted robbery of a store on E. 16th Street on June 26, according to police.
The clerk at the business near Newkirk Avenue told cops he witnessed the suspect take several items, including soap and fish, and try to leave without paying for them at 9:30 am. The items were recovered from the suspect’s bag, police reported.
