Park beating
Police arrested two men after an argument in Transmitter Park on June 27 escalated when the duo allegedly beat an older guy in the head with a metal rod.
The 46-year-old victim told police that he was sitting in the park at the corner of Greenpoint Avenue and West Street at 8:30 pm when two younger guys started arguing with him. Police say that when the victim tried to ignore them, one of the suspects grabbed a metal of rod and hit him in the face and eye, causing cuts. The 31-year-old and 35-year-old men were charged with assault.
Old man assaulted
A man was charged with elderly assault after he punched a 74-year-old man in the face on Nassau Avenue on June 24.
Police say the senior was at McCarren Park near Bedford Avenue at noon when the suspect decked him. The 34-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
Not a good defense
A driver angry at receiving a parking summons ran over a traffic cop’s foot on Manhattan Avenue on June 29, say police, who arrested a suspect.
Police said the cop was writing out a ticket to a car parked between Greenpoint Avenue and Milton Street at 8:13 am when the driver, who was sitting in the car, decided to take off and run over the cop’s foot. The 27-year-old driver was arrested and charged with assault.
Bait and steal
A trio of teenagers were arrested for allegedly stealing a woman’s pocketbook from a N. Sixth Street beauty shop on June 20.
The victim told police that three young man came in to her beauty shop at the corner of Driggs Avenue at 2:20 pm. While two of the teens chatted up the woman and her coworkers, the third stole her purse, passport, keys, credit card and MetroCard.
The three were arrested and charged with grand larceny.
Boutique shopper
A man walked into a Metropolitan Avenue boutique and walked out with an unpaid-for laptop on June 28.
The manager of the store told police that a customer came into the shop between Driggs Avenue and Roebling Street at 7 pm, distracted an employee, and then walked out with an Apple MacBook covered in a magazine.
Wallet you were waiting
A man stole a wallet out of the purse of a woman working at a boutique on Driggs Avenue on June 26.
The woman told police that she was at work at the shop between N. Ninth and N. 10th streets in the afternoon. When she looked in her purse at 2:10 pm, she found her billfold missing. She looked on the surveillance tape and saw a man taking it out of her bag from behind the counter.
