Cops: Man now suffering brain injury was in multiple scraps at W’burg bar

Staffers or patrons of a Williamsburg nightclub called police twice in two hours to deal with scuffles involving a man who is now in critical condition with severe brain damage, according to police, who previously reported only one visit to the bar.

Police said they first responded to a call at the Charleston, which is on Bedford Avenue between N. Seventh and N. Eighth streets, at 12:45 am on Sunday morning. They arrived to find the man with a bloody nose. He refused treatment and walked away from the bar, said Sgt. Lee Jones.

Cops were summoned again less than an hour later, and when they showed up this time, they found the man unconscious and unresponsive at the curb.

The man is clinging to life in hospital, and cops said they are still trying to figure out what happened at the bar that night.

Staff at the Charleston refuse to comment.

Police have still made no arrests.
