Microwave melee
Cops cuffed a man who they say stole his 77-year-old uncle’s microwave from the victim’s Brightwater Court apartment on July 6.
Police reported that the nephew followed his uncle up the stairs and pushed his way into the victim’s apartment near Brighton 1 Place before taking the microwave. The nephew slapped his uncle across the face and knocked him down when the victim tried to stop him, said police.
Craigslist crook
A sneaker transaction agreed to through Craigslist went south on July 8, when the footwear fraud brandished a gun on his customer on Surf Avenue and made off with $250.
The victim told police he agreed to meet the huckster near W. 27th Street at 10:15 pm. When he dropped the $550 he had brought with him to buy the trainers, the phony seller flashed a silver firearm.
The crook grabbed some of the cash and ran away, according to police. The victim recovered $300 of his money.
Dating site rape
Police apprehended a man who they said raped a woman on Surf Avenue on July 8 after meeting her four days prior on a dating website.
The victim told police the man she was asleep near Stillwell Avenue at 1 pm when the man forced himself on her.
She awoke during the rape but did not say anything to the man, she told police. According to authorities, the victim had met the man on the website Badoo. She told police that they had been drinking vodka and other alcoholic beverages prior to the incident.
ATM misappropriation
A fiendish female grabbed a 78-year-old woman’s $300 during a Brighton Beach Avenue cash withdrawal on July 7.
Officials said that the victim was taking the money out of the automated teller machine near Coney Island Avenue at 7:35 pm when the unknown perpetrator pushed the victim out of the way and yelled, “that’s my money!”
Sun roof swindler
A scoundrel robbed a man at gunpoint on W. 24th Street through the sun roof of the victim’s car on July 12.
The victim reported that he was sitting in his car near the Boardwalk at 7 am when a man leaned over the open sun roof and asked for a lighter. The victim did not give the man a lighter, police said.
The malefactor then returned with a pink revolver and said, “give me the wallet or I’ll shoot you,” at which point the victim handed over his wallet and a necklace, according to police reports. Authorities said the robber fled through the nearby Bernard Haber houses.
Nap nab
Police cuffed a man who they said stole from a sleeping man at the Stillwell Avenue subway station on July 11.
Cops at the train hub near Surf Avenue reported seeing the victim napping at 4:20 am, at which point the suspect took $17 from the victim’s pocket, and grabbed a bookbag from the slumbering man’s lap. The victim’s property was recovered and returned.
Steeple Chase fleecing
A man was arrested for stealing from a Surf Avenue storage area for the Steeple Chase rides on July 12, said cops.
Surveillance cameras show the man allegedly removing someone else’s credit and debit cards at 9:50 pm and fleeing the scene on foot, according to police reports. Police stated that the man was found with all the items reported stolen by the victim.
