Cops: Suspect leads cops on car chase

94th Precinct

Greenpoint–Northside

Dodging the law

Police arrested a 30-year-old man who they say stole a bag of cash from a car parked on Beadel Avenue on July 13 — and then endangered the lives of bystanders in an attempt to evade arrest.

A driver said he parked his car between Vandervoort and Morgan avenues and returned at 6:15 pm to find the suspect rummaging through the vehicle. The suspect fled in a Honda Civic when the driver confronted him, taking a bag containing a Social Security card and more than $1,000, cops said.

A police officer spotted the vehicle on a nearby highway near Morgan Avenue between Withers Street and Maspeth Avenue at 6:25 pm and tried to pull it over, but the suspect drove away quickly, cops reported. The officer followed the vehicle for about 10 blocks while the man ran red lights and swerved back and forth between lanes, nearly hitting other cars and pedestrians, according to reports.

Face it

An 18-year-old woman was arrested for attacking another lady on Kent Street on two separate occasions on July 11, police say.

The victim was between Manhattan Avenue and Franklin Street when the suspect first punched her in the face at 1:30 am, and then bit her arm later at the same location at 7 pm — both attacks combined causing lacerations, bruising, and swelling, cops said.

Almost attacked

A 46-year-old man was arrested for attempting to assault a pedestrian on Clay Street on July 15, police say.

The victim was at McGuinness Boulevard at 11:30 pm when the suspect allegedly tried to punch him in the face and told him he was going to “f— him up.”
