A teenage girl was arrested for allegedly stealing a purse full of makeup from a Graham Avenue department store on Aug. 25.
A security guard at the store between Varet and Cook streets saw the 16-year-old walk into the store at 1:30 pm and stuff 14 different kinds of makeup into her purse, according to a report at the Brooklyn district attorney’s office.
When police showed up to arrest the girl, she allegedly told them she was only 13, even after they threatened her with another charge. The girl’s mother told police that she is actually 16. Police charged the girl with petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, and false impersonation.
Stick up
Police arrested a young man who they say robbed a man of his cellphone on Varet Street on Aug. 7.
The victim was at the corner of Graham Avenue at 2:30 pm when the suspect, along with a partner in crime who got away, told the victim they told him they had a gun and demanded his phone, according to the district attorney’s office.
The 18-year-old suspect was charged with first, second, and third-degree robbery, grand larceny, petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, menacing and harassment.
Pluck and run
A teenager was arrested for allegedly stealing a woman’s purse on Leonard Street on Aug. 18.
The victim told police she was near Montrose Avenue at 8 pm when the teen ran up behind her, grabbed her purse, and ran off, police reported. The purse contained her cellphone, glasses, keys and $8.
The 17-year-old boy was charged with grand larceny, petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
