Stop sign
Police arrested group of teenagers who they say pulled a man off his moped, assaulted him, and tried to steal his phone on Jackson Street on June 16.
The 21-year-old victim told police he was riding his moped and was stopped near Humboldt Street at 11:40 pm when a guy grabbed him by the arm and threw him to the ground.
“Grab his phone,” the guy allegedly told his buddies.
As the victim was laying in the road, a car came up and nearly ran him over. Then, the three teens ran away without taking the phone, cops said.
The cops showed up and arrested the three teenagers after the man identified them. The teens, who ranged in age from 14 to 17, were all charged with robbery.
On air
Two men were arrested and charged with robbery after they attacked a guy on Meeker Avenue on June 21.
The victim told police he was near Withers Street at 11:50 pm when two guys came up to him and one pointed what looked like a real gun at him.
“We won’t shoot you if you clear your pockets” one of the guys said.
The victim handed over his wallet, iPhone, and headphones.
The two men ran away and were later picked up by police. The gun turned out to be an air gun, according to cops.
False alarm
Four teenagers broke into a N. Third Street business and sprayed the place down with a fire extinguisher on June 18.
The owner of the business between Wythe Avenue and Berry Street told police that he caught the incident — which happened at 12:20 am — on surveillance tape.
The video shows the four young boys breaking the lock on the front door. They then walked into the hallway, grabbed the fire extinguisher, and sprayed all the walls with foam. The boys then ran out without taking any property. So far, police have made no arrests.
Bad judgement
A sneaky crook stole a sleeping woman’s pocketbook containing more than $1,000 on the G train as it was pulling into the Nassau Avenue stop on June 18.
The woman told police that she was drunk when got on the G train leaving Court Square in Queens at 4 am — and promptly fell asleep with her bag under her leg.
When she woke up at the subway station, she found the bag — and $1,800 — missing. The money belonged to a nightclub on Norman Avenue between Newell and Diamond streets, police reported.
What did he expect?
A shady character asked a man if he could test out his bicycle in McCarren Park on June 9 — and then rode off with it when the victim relented.
The victim told police that he was riding his bicycle in the park at 3 pm when the ne’er-do-well asked if he could test it out. At first the victim refused, but when the guy asked again, he let him get on it. Then the guy rode off.
