Infant diversion
Police arrested a 24-year-old woman who they said stole another woman’s phone by feigning interest in her baby at a on W. Eighth Street grocery story on Dec. 15.
The 61-year-old victim was in the store between Surf Avenue and Sheepshead Bay Road in Coney Island at 4:37 pm when the suspect bent over her stroller to admire an infant, police said.
But the young woman was really only interested in a purse hanging from the stroller, police said. The victim noticed her phone was missing and tracked it to the alleged cutpurse, who police arrested, a police report states.
Raped at gunpoint
A gun-toting man raped a 20-year-old woman on Shore Parkway on Dec. 16, police reported.
The victim told police she was between Rabbi Block and Bay 41st streets in Gravesend at 12:23 am when the man — an acquaintance of the victim — forced her to perform oral sex on him, police said.
The man also forced the woman to engage in vaginal sex, a police report states. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
Robbed for phone
A thug took a 16-year-old’s phone at gunpoint at Neptune Avenue on Dec. 16.
The teen near W. Fifth Street in Brighton Beach heading home from a basketball game at 7:40 pm when a man wearing a hoodie flashed a gun and took his iPhone, a police report states.
Cop’s pocket picked
Someone cut open an auxiliary police officer’s back pocket and took his wallet, which contained a police badge, on Dec. 15.
The victim, a member of the police department’s volunteer auxiliary patrol, covers public housing, a police report states. He picked up his uniform and equipment from the police academy in Queens at 2:30 pm and took public transit to Coney Island, police said.
When the man arrived at the F train’s Stillwell Avenue station, he walked into a store to buy a water and realized someone cut his back pocket, which contained his auxiliary ID shield, a voucher receipt, and state ID, officials said.
Property scam
A guy claiming to rent property in Pennsylvania conned a W. 27th Street woman out of $1,200 on Dec. 17.
The victim responded to a posting on Craigslist advertising a property in the Pocono Mountains, police said.
She agreed to pay a $1,200 deposit on the house and wired money to the purported owner, but when she tried to contact him after the transfer, he turned his phone off, police said.
Grinch steals Christmas
Someone stole clothes, a bag, assorted electronics, and $4,500 from a parked car on Cropsey Avenue on Dec. 20.
The victim parked his car at a grocery store between Canal Avenue and Bay 54th Street in Gravesend at 1:30 pm, police said. When he returned after shopping, the holiday swag was gone, a police report states.
