Councilmen hold safety forum in wake of tragic fire

Those on hand heard from representatives from the Department of Buildings about how to ensure that buildings are safe and adhere to zoning and building code. The also received useful tips and information from the FDNY on how to safeguard their homes from fire, and free smoke alarms and batteries were distributed.
